The Episcopal Church
Welcomes You
Our Presiding Bishop
28th Presiding Bishop & Primate
The Most Rev. Sean W. Rowe was elected presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church in June 2024 and took office on Nov. 1 for a nine-year term. In this role, he serves as the church’s chief pastor and CEO. Known for his expertise in organizational learning and adaptive change, Rowe is committed to strengthening support for local ministry and mission.
He was ordained bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania in 2007 after serving as rector of St. John’s in Franklin, Pennsylvania, for seven years. From 2014 to 2018, he served as bishop provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, and from 2019 to 2024, he led a partnership between the Episcopal Dioceses of Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York.
Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Grove City College, a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in organizational learning and leadership from Gannon University. He has served as a leader of many civic and churchwide organizations and governance bodies, and as parliamentarian for the House of Bishops.
There are many ways to financially support Saint James' and our ministries. Saint James' is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All gifts are tax-deductible. All accounts are audited annually.
We know there are times you can’t attend a Sunday service and you want to place an offering in the plate. This is your way of giving — even though you couldn’t be present at the Eucharist.
In October, 2021, a new Outreach ministry was created on the Feast of Saint Francis. The message was very succinct: “Saint Francis challenged us to focus on this major premise — God created animals. They are our brothers, sisters or our children who require our care and our love”. You can donate to the “Animal Care Ministry” which benefits animal shelters and animal care organizations throughout our area.
Donations to the Building and Grounds Fund will be used to keep our historic building and property safe and attractive.
The Deacon’s Discretionary Fund is used only for purposes consistent with the charitable nature of the Church’s activities, such as support of the poor, hungry, homeless, and other ministerial needs in our community as well as beyond our geographical confines. We partner with many other churches in an ecumenical spirit to provide support for those in need.
Donations to the Music Fund will be used for our Choir section leaders, guest instrumentalists, organ upkeep, and other similar expenses.
The Rector’s Discretionary Fund is used only for purposes consistent with the charitable nature of the Church’s activities, such as support of the poor, hungry, homeless, and other ministerial needs in our community as well as beyond our geographical confines. The Healing and Joy Blanket Ministry extolls the power of prayer and the comfort of a specially-created blanket for the recipients. Dedicated parishioners convene on a regular basis to sew blankets from many donated fabrics which are used for healing and joy and are blessed monthly at a regular service and Eucharist.
Generations of faithful, forward-thinking parishioners have remembered the work of Saint James' in their wills or have created endowments in honor of loved ones. We are happy to speak with you about creating your own legacy gift.
